NEWS ALERT: IMPORTANT PROPOSITION 33 UPDATE
STOP THE GOVERNMENT FROM STEALING YOUR PROPERTY AND YOUR ABILITY TO MAKE A LIVING…VOTE NO ON PROPOSITION 33 IN NOVEMBER.
A new poll released last week by the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) indicated a 12-point decrease in voter opposition to Proposition 33 compared to past ballot measures Proposition 10 (2018) and Proposition 21 (2020). This new PPIC survey shows 51% FOR versus 46% AGAINST!
While we knew Proposition 33 would always be a close fight, now it’s even closer…far too close! NOW, there is ONLY a limited window to do something about defeating Proposition 33.
Recently, this important message was released by the statewide NO on Proposition 33 campaign:
“If we are to defeat Prop. 33, we must quickly expand our efforts. We need your urgent support to increase television buys and launch a wider voter contact effort earlier than planned.”
Our path forward is perfectly clear – once we make voters understand what Proposition 33 is really all about and how it impacts homeowners and residential landlords, we can shift voter opinion to our favor and a NO ON PROPOSITION 33 vote. But we must first educate voters, particularly in light of these latest polling numbers. We can turn around the latest polling, but that takes an all-out effort and takes money for advertising and grassroots efforts.
Remember, if Proposition 33 passes, the consequences for property owners will be devastating:
- We will lose our ability to raise our rent to fair market rates for any new tenancy.
- Unelected rent boards will gain the power to impose various fees, increase our costs, and regulate our rental business.
- Rent control and rent “caps” will be expanded to new construction, condominiums, single-family homes, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and even bedrooms that are rented in your home!
- Your income will decrease, and your property values will decline. In New York City, similar regulations to Proposition 33 resulted in a 40% to 50% decline in multifamily property values.
Campaign polling continues to show that our successful opposition is within reach, but only if we can fully fund our NO ON PROPOSITION 33 campaign. Time is running out fast, and we are asking that you urgently contribute to our NO ON PROPOSITION 33 campaign no later than October 10th before it’s too late!
PLEASE give us your strong support by contributing however much you can by October 10th. The cost of losing and passing Proposition 33 is far more than a few hundred or even a few thousand dollars. The outcome could cost each of us hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost rental income and equity value in our investment properties. Please give generously. Funds are needed as soon as possible.
